What Is Mole Mapping?
Mole mapping is a simple, non-invasive way to assess and monitor your moles and skin lesions. It helps us notice small changes that could otherwise go unnoticed, and treat skin issues that may otherwise become more serious over time.
The procedure is important for catching potential issues early, like melanoma or other skin conditions. But it’s not just about finding problems, though – it’s about giving you peace of mind and taking a proactive approach to your skin health. Regular mole mapping means you’ll always know where you stand and can act quickly if something needs attention.
During a consultation, Nurse Louise will take a complete history of your skin health, capture high-quality images of your moles and send them to our partnered dermatologist for further analysis.

What Happens During The Mole Mapping Process?
Mole mapping is a straightforward and comfortable process designed to give you clarity and peace of mind about your skin. Here’s what to expect during your appointment.

1 - A Friendly Chat. In our Hartley Wintney clinic, Nurse Louise will ask about your medical history, sun exposure and any family history of skin conditions. This helps us understand your risk factors and any specific concerns you may have.

2 - A Closer Look. Using a specialised magnifying device, Nurse Louise will carefully examine your moles and skin lesions. This tool allows her to see details that aren’t visible to the naked eye.

3 - Photography. High-quality images of your moles will be taken to ensure a detailed and accurate review.

4 - Expert Review. The images are shared with a trusted dermatologist, who will assess them for any signs of concern.

5 - Next Steps. Once the dermatologist provides feedback, Nurse Louise will discuss the findings with you. If everything is clear, she can explore removal options if desired. If further investigation is needed, we’ll refer you to the right medical professionals.

The process is designed to be thorough yet relaxed, ensuring you feel informed and supported at every stage.
What Can Mole Mapping Tell Us About Our Skin?
Mole mapping is an insightful way to gain a deeper understanding of your skin’s health. It allows us to monitor any changes in your moles, such as alterations in size, shape or colour, which might indicate the need for further investigation.
By examining your skin closely, mole mapping can also highlight potential risk factors, like the effects of sun exposure, helping you better understand how these elements have impacted your skin over time.

Beyond identifying concerns, mole mapping provides reassurance by ruling out issues, giving you confidence in the health of your skin.
